Greece-Chili-Ogden Pump Station, Monroe County Pure Waters
This project won the 2000 Engineering Excellence Silver Medal Award from CEC.
FRA was retained for the design of this award-winning cast-in-place pump station structure to house four twelve-million-gallons-per-day pumps that connect the GCO Sewer District to the Genesee River Interceptor Southwest via a forcemain. The pump station is approximately 70' long x 50' wide x 35' deep. Challenging aspects of the design included measures to counteract buoyancy of the new structure, which is entirely below the 100-year flood elevation, and design of a water-tight concrete structure without the need for protective coatings. The station allowed for the abandonment of the previous Gates-Chili-Ogden wastewater treatment facility.
