Infotonics

This project was awarded the ACEC Diamond Award in Engineering Excellence.

FRA was retained to provide structural engineering for two additions, as well as a number of framing modifications required to accommodate the manufacturing processes of Infotonics. Infotonics is a conglomerate of Corning, Eastman Kodak Company, and Bausch & Lomb.

FRA investigated the capacities of existing structural steel mezzanines and floors to accommodate the proposed manufacturing environment. Innovative framing designs were required to minimize interferences with proposed process piping. FRA also designed reinforcements for the existing roof steel to accommodate proposed rooftop units. Additionally, existing columns were extended in one area of the structure to provide a covered ductwork mechanical chase.
